EcoHill LLC is an Energy Star Partner and has a LEED Accredited Professional on staff. Our design group includes HVAC-R designers with nearly 50 years of combined experience, and over 20 years in geothermal, air and ground source heat pumps, and building controls.

Jonathan Backos brings a unique sustainable business prospective to EcoHill Solutions. He obtained one of the first Bachelor of Science degrees in Environmental Science & Management from the Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University in 2004, and his MBA program at Walsh College in Troy, Michigan. Jon's combination of environmental science and business management helps clients see the benefits of green solutions from both sides. Sustainable design must not only be good for the environment, but profitable for business, as well. Jon focuses on design stratigies that produce high return on investments and low maintenance. Jon has worked on multiple existing and new construction LEED projects.

Peter Hetzel is the Marketing Director of Ecohill Solutions. He has a broad knowledge of every sustainable technology and understands the importance of resource conservation. When talking with clients, Peter recognizes the challenges that each facility has and is aware of the variety of solutions which can reduce the energy loads and create a better environment for building occupants. Previously, Peter served as director of Green Initiatives for SkySite Property, the Sustainability Arm of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Laurent Kanago is the Technology Director of EcoHill Solutions. The youngest founder of the EcoHill, Laurent finished his undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Chicago for Architecture in 2008. While in school every aspect of his design process has been aimed towards at maximizing the design of his building concepts. His focus focuses on setting high standards for the safety of humans and the conservation of natural resources. With EcoHill, he specializes in whole building energy simulations, energy modeling, while constantly learning about the latest software from load calculations to BIM.
"Staying in touch with the current technologies really is the key in this industry. Older software can only comprehend the old way of designing buildings and the newer technologies aren't always compatible. It is important to know the capabilities and the weaknesses of each program."

Kenneth Reibeling is a licensed mechanical and refrigeration contractor with 25 years of commercial, industrial, residential and institutional hvac design build experience. He has working with local and national architectural firms, specializing in energy efficient design technologies such as geothermal, solar, building automation systems, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems. Ken acts as the commissioning agent on most projects. Having done dozens of commissioning and design/building projects through KMR Design Group he understands that experience matters.
